The Benefits of Inclusive Hiring
Hello to our local businesses - thank you to the many area businesses who have embraced inclusive hiring practices. If you're a local business, and you want to learn more about what's involved (and the many benefits!) of inclusive hiring, we would be happy to talk about it with you. It is much more than being compliant with provincial employment standards or human rights legislation.
Proactively embracing disability inclusion is a key to making not only your business, but the community it serves, stronger and more vibrant, both economically and socially. It is good for your business, for your company culture and for your brand. Here's research findings on this very subject:
- A 2021 survey, by the Angus Reid Institute and the Rick Hansen Foundation, found that 62% of Canadians would be more likely to do business with a company if they knew that business had specific policies to support employees who have a disability
- An Accenture study found that disability-inclusive businesses have 30% higher profit margins and 28% higher revenue than companies that aren't
- A 2023 Harvard Business Review article, by two London Business School professors, reported that 88% of human resource professionals surveyed said that disability-inclusive hiring 'significantly' improved the 'internal culture of their firms'
